  3. From today's Facebook post;

    The strikingly beautiful Red Avadavat (Amandava amandava) is a small, lively finch native to South Asia. The males steal the show with bright red breeding plumage, white spots, a red bill, and pink legs. They are sometimes called ‘strawberry finches’ because their red color and white spots resembles a strawberry! Females are more plain, but still quite beautiful with a yellow underbelly, white spots, and a red rump. Pairs stay together during breeding season, preen each other, and defend their mates. Outside of breeding season, they “clump” in large, social flocks that have many charming, collective names, such as a “charm” or a “trembling” of finches. {Spotted in India by JungleDragon user, Sameer Deshpande} #JungleDragon

The Red Avadavat, Red Munia or Strawberry Finch is a sparrow-sized bird of the Estrildidae family. It is found in the open fields and grasslands of tropical Asia and is popular as a cage bird due to the colourful plumage of the males in their breeding season.
