  1. Another candidate may be Cabrera variolaria. This page has some good info on how to compare these candidates:

    1. My hero, lol. Seriously, thank you! I think it's Cabera variolaria. I had ruled that one out initially because my moth ID book said the winds are pure white. Yet, online, I read that they are speckled. I guess I need to start checking more than one source as a habit! Posted 6 years ago
      1. When you start calling me a hero I feel too guilty for claiming credit for something I did not do. Guess how I identified the last two of your observations? I used André Poremski's app, lol. So he's the hero.

It is using artificial intelligence to try and recognize the moth from an image. I was hesitant to use it as I though it meant I had to publish the photo (which would violate copyrights if I did so with the photos of others). Yet I found a way to just recognize the moth and cancel the publication.

        The app is called "leps".

        1. You are so *bleeping* modest and honest too. Thanks a lot though for the help. I need to check out that app! Posted 6 years ago
          1. Yes you do! I got 3 out of 4 so far and the one that failed was an out of focus image :)

You should have known something was up when I can find moths you can't. You dramatically outrank me in identifying species :)

            1. I just have more practice IDing things. You will surely catch up.

              1. Surely not, and I'm perfectly OK with that :) Posted 6 years ago
