The Kosrae fruit dove , is a species of bird in the family Columbidae found on Kosrae in the Caroline Islands. It was formerly considered as a subspecies of the crimson-crowned fruit dove. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.

You can hear their rolling calls all the time, but they often stick to the canopy, where they are incredibly hard to spot. But I watched this one from the roof of the house of the one local birder (who's originally from Puerto Rico!), who lives in the forest, and has the birds come eat in the shrubs right around his garden :) Posted 6 years ago
