  1. I had this nice encounter with this lone male one morning wandering in the forest around our little guesthouse, as he was quietly feeding in a tree. He saw me first, of course, and I located him because of the grunts he started making, but I didn't get too close, and he settled down more or less, though he was clearly pleased when I moved on... The Formosan rock macaque , Formosan rock monkey, or Taiwanese macaque, is a macaque endemic to the island of Taiwan, which has also been introduced to Japan. Besides humans, Formosan rock macaques are the only native primates living in Taiwan.
