A Hairy Lip! These plants seem to pop up in the spring any where the soil has been disturbed. Who knows where the seeds come from? In our area the flowers range from white with no spots all the way to a very dark purple with many dark markings. "Digitalis purpurea" is a species of flowering plant in the plantain family Scrophulariaceae, native to and widespread throughout most of temperate Europe. It is also naturalised in parts of North America and some other temperate regions. The plants are well known as the original source of the heart medicine digoxin.
