      1. Well, knowing how much work it is to capture, process and ID a thousand species, I consider all 1K+ members true legends. I share your same goal, I don't go out to work on my number, I go out to explore biodiversity and that happens to increase the number. Which is just a number, one I hope will be surpassed by many. ''Hygrophorus subalpinus'', commonly known as the subalpine waxycap, is a species of fungus in the family Hygrophoraceae. Found in the mountains of western North America, it is found growing on the ground under conifers, usually near snowbanks.
