Spring flora

Spring flora in an old-growth Sugar Maple forest. The trees at this location are growing on a drier site than those in the rest of the forest and are smaller and younger. There seems to be more turnover with trees living for shorter periods of time. Herbaceous species noted are Dicentra cucullaria and Claytonia caroliniana.
