American Black Bear (Ursus americanus) Paw Prints Apparently, a young black bear attempted to climb our water storage tank recently. We have had a very hot, dry spring (with a record-breaking heat wave), so maybe it was trying to access some water or even cool off? Additionally, it wrestled some of our piping out of the ground (which wasn&#039;t fully buried)--so that was an entertaining mess to stumble upon. :) <br />
