
Hexagonal-pored Polypore - Neofavolus alveolaris
*Note: This mushroom was definitely NOT this vibrant in person. I'm not sure why the photo came out this way.
Small mushrooms with fan-shaped fruiting bodies. Upper surface was orange, dry, and scaly. Cream-colored pores were honeycombed. Short, stubby stem.
Spotted growing on dead wood in a deciduous forest

"Neofavolus alveolaris" is a species of polypore fungus in the family Polyporaceae. It is widely distributed in the temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere.
