Marbled Poison Frog - side view, Tumaco, Colombia
About 2cm in size. Major credit to our guide Manuel Espejo who spent about an hour to find it after first hearing it call. Found in a pretty bizarre location: the backyard of a narcos shrimp farm. This narcos-owned shrimp farm was repossessed by the authorities and then left to rot. The buildings had an apocalypse feel to them, overgrown and in the process of being taken back by nature. Our guide Jonathan secured a birding permit, allowing us to explore the large backyard area, consisting of woodland, ponds and a big lake.

The marbled poison frog or marbled poison-arrow frog is a species of frog in the family Dendrobatidae found in western Colombia and northwestern Ecuador, at elevations of 10–1,500 m asl. It likely represents a species complex of at least two species.
