Coral Spot - Nectria cinnabarina Nectria cinnabarina produces red pads (fruiting bodies) on the bark of hardwood trees. These pads release large volumes of spores that land on nearby branches, allowing the pathogen to establish itself in new locations. Once established, the fungus is very difficult to eradicate. It kills the bark, cambium, and outer sapwood as it obtains sugars from the host. <br />
