True Lover's Knot - Paris quadrifolia
Paris quadrifolia has solitary flowers with very narrow, green, filiform petals and a round purple ovary in the center. The flower is located above a single whorl of four stem leaves. Each plant produces one blueberry-like berry, which is poisonous, as are other parts of the plant. Poisonings are rare though because the berries taste disgusting.
Habitat: Forest at Garden in the Woods

''Paris quadrifolia'', the herb-paris or true lover's knot, is a Eurasian species of flowering plant in the family Melanthiaceae, although authorities formerly regarded it as part of the Liliaceae family. It is related to ''Trillium'', with which it can be confused. ''Trillium'', however, is generally 3-merous, whereas ''Paris quadrifolia'' is 4-merous.
