A Contorted Contorta! I would like to take credit for this natural “sculpture” but I can’t. Pinus contorta ssp. contorta did it all by itself. Here on the west coast it is known as Shorepine while the Lodgepole Pine in the interior is a different subspecies. The Lodgepole pine
