  1. Melese peruviana or sixola? Posted 6 years ago
    1. And, just, WOW! Posted 6 years ago
      1. Thanks for not forgetting to appreciate the moth itself :) Posted 6 years ago
        1. A bad habit of mine is to delve right into the ID without giving proper admiration first! Posted 6 years ago
          1. The order doesn't matter and with an ID, we can find it back and admire it again :) Thank you for both efforts! Posted 6 years ago
            1. True <3. And, I always admire and oohh and ahhh over them, even if I forget to type it. Posted 6 years ago
    2. Thanks and wow, trickier than I thought to compare these. Some findings:

Melese peruviana: most photos show straight, squarish wings, not round wings. Except for this one:

It seems a physical difference to me, but perhaps it a matter of posture? Because everything else about the moth does match.

Sixola: similar, but it looks to have only a thin colorful edge of the wing, not the thick yellow band as seen here.

This page suggests Melese amastris may also be a candidate:

In any case the genus seems clear, thanks!

      1. Definitely tricky! The square vs. round wings confuses me too. I was hoping it was postural, but don’t really know. Posted 6 years ago
