Great White Trillium - Trillium grandiflorum
I was so surprised to see this trillium in full bloom. This is the earliest I've ever found it - usually it doesn't bloom in NW Connecticut until the first or second week of May.
Habitat: Mostly coniferous forest, beside a stream. It was a warm, sunny day, but still dark in the forest.

"Trillium grandiflorum" is a species of flowering plant in the family Melanthiaceae. A monocotyledonous, herbaceous perennial, it is native to eastern North America, from northern Quebec to the southern parts of the United States through the Appalachian Mountains into northernmost Georgia and west to Minnesota.
