Palenose Parrotfish - Scarus psittacus

Mandarin House Reef, Lembeh. This parrotfish was sleeping in its cocoon and it has the night blotchy coloration.

  Thanks, Christine! The colors get darker at night. In some species is related to sexual display but in this parrotfish I doubt it as he was sleeping :-) Posted 6 years ago

The Palenose Parrotfish

Scarus psittacus is a ray-finned fish species from the parrotfish family (Scaridae). The scientific name of the species was first validly published in 1775 by Forsskål.
