Bay Islands Forest Lizard We stayed at the Barefoot at Havelock Resort and these little fellows were pretty common in the forest around our cabin. Bay Islands Forest Lizard

We stayed at the Barefoot at Havelock Resort and these little fellows were pretty common in the forest around our cabin. This is my best guess at identification, although I await the judgement of our resident Herp master, John Sullivan.

      Well I doubt if I would have ever heard of them if it wasn't for Sherlock Holmes. Yes, in the second Sherlock Holmes novel, A Sign of Four, a penal colony on the Andaman Islands (as part of the British colony of India) features rather prominently in the story. I read it as a teenager and it sounded like the most exotic place imaginable. I never dreamed that I would ever go there. So I was immediately excited when my wife suggested it as part of an Indian trip! And it is amazing - not really so much for reptiles as for birds and fish. Posted 6 years ago, modified 6 years ago
