
Picnic Beetle - Glischrochilus fasciatus
TL: ~5 mm long. Oblong, shiny black beetle with four orange patches shaped like puzzle pieces. They are attracted to anything sweet and can be nuisances at picnics, hence their common name. I'm not sure what they were covered in - pollen??
Habitat: Spotted feasting on sap leaking from a tap hole in a maple (Acer sp. ) tree
