    Dr. Harsha, this bird is not Black redstart. The Black restart is greyish-black, but never blue. It looks like Plumbeous water redstart (Phoenicurus fuliginosus), but I wonder how it could happen to be seen in France? It is native to South Asia and China?

      I have found the right subspecies - Phoenicurus ochruros gibraltariensis. But still the record is for the main scientific name. Posted 6 years ago

The Black Redstart

The Black Redstart "Phoenicurus ochruros" is a small passerine bird in the redstart genus "Phoenicurus". Like its relatives, it was formerly classed as a member of the Thrush family, but is now known to be an Old World flycatcher.
