It varies in height from 20 cm tall up to 1.5 m high. Plants grow in sandy & clayey soils, gravelly clay loam, ironstone, laterite on sandstone cliffs, plains, and rocky terrain. Melaleuca longistaminea, Myrtaceae

This species is a prickly shrub which has sharp tipped leaves and was photographed late in the afternoon. This shrub was upright but it can be prostrate. It varies in height from 20 cm tall up to 1.5 m high. Plants grow in sandy & clayey soils, gravelly clay loam, ironstone, laterite on sandstone cliffs, plains, and rocky terrain.

''Melaleuca longistaminea'' is a plant in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae and is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It is a shrub with small, prickly, heart-shaped leaves and heads of yellow to green flowers on the sides of the stems in winter and spring. It is similar to ''Melaleuca spectabilis'' which was formerly included in this species but has smaller flowerheads and narrower leaves.
