Wood Frog - Lithobates sylvaticus
Adult wood frogs are brown or tan and have a dark eye mask. Individual frogs are capable of varying their color. I spotted more than 50 frogs mating and swimming. They were incredibly loud!
I sat on the bank of the pond for at least 30 minutes, during which time this pair didn't move. The male did start to fall asleep though!
Habitat: Small pond, swamp, and vernal pools in a deciduous forest

The wood frog has a broad distribution over North America, extending from the Boreal forest of Canada and Alaska to the southern Appalachians, with several notable disjunct populations including lowland eastern North Carolina.
