Wood Frog - Lithobates sylvaticus Adult wood frogs are brown or tan and have a dark eye mask. Individual frogs are capable of varying their color. I spotted more than 50 frogs mating and swimming. They were incredibly loud!<br /> <br /> I sat on the bank of the pond for at least 30 minutes, during which time this pair didn&#039;t move. I sat on the bank of the pond for at least 30 minutes, during which time this pair didn't move. The male did start to fall asleep though!

The Wood frog

The wood frog has a broad distribution over North America, extending from the Boreal forest of Canada and Alaska to the southern Appalachians, with several notable disjunct populations including lowland eastern North Carolina.
