  1. Interesting. These butterflies also occur where I live in Minnesota but must migrate from southern states each year as they can't survive the winter cold. Posted 6 years ago
    1. we have them here year-round, but sometimes we get a migration wave passing through in addition to the local ones. Posted 6 years ago

"Vanessa cardui" is the most widespread of all butterfly species. It is commonly called the painted lady, or formerly in North America the cosmopolitan.
