one of many... in the past few days there is a migration of Painted Lady butterflies all over Israel. no matter where you are, they are flying over. less in the middle of the city, but even there you can see them. in the Binyamina reserve today we saw thousands of them!     1. according to what I read, they started in the southern Arabian peninsula - somewhere around Yemen, and they migrate in several generations, each generation picking up where it was born, and yes - they are trying to get to southern Europe, Cyprus, Greece - something like that. "Vanessa cardui" is the most widespread of all butterfly species. It is commonly called the painted lady, or formerly in North America the cosmopolitan.
