Long-tailed sylph, La Planada Nature Reserve, Colombia
This male of the Long-tailed sylph species is a common guest around the accommodations of La Planada Nature Reserve. Or rather we are the guests, I suppose. We named it Hugo. It is more often heard then seen, as you hear the rapid drum-like sounds of it speeding by, sometimes only a few inches from your head. It seems to like some particular fruiting trees in the gardens.
More coverage on Hugo later in the set, this was only the first meeting.

The long-tailed sylph is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
