Long-tailed sylph, La Planada Nature Reserve, Colombia This male of the Long-tailed sylph species is a common guest around the accommodations of La Planada Nature Reserve. Or rather we are the guests, I suppose. We named it Hugo. It is more often heard then seen, as you hear the rapid drum-like sounds of it speeding by, sometimes only a few inches from your head. It seems to like some particular fruiting trees in the gardens.
More coverage on Hugo later in the set, this was only the first meeting.
