Andean siskin - facing rain II, La Cocha, Colombia A very small finch (some claim it to be the smallest finch) that was perched around some grasslands and did not seem to care much about the ice cold streaming rain hammering down on it (and ourselves). This is the adult male, which has a distinctive black cap. <br />

  1. Is that ice/freezing rain?! It definitely looks cold! A true adventure with a bit of appropriate hardship ;) Posted 6 years ago
    1. Yes, it was definitely cold here in the mornings, just slightly above zero and very, very wet. Nothing crazy though, our winters are similar. Posted 6 years ago
      1. I guess it shouldn't, but the climate surprises me. Posted 6 years ago
        1. The altitude does explain it, but when first experiencing it, it's unreal given that you're in Colombia. The next location is even more unreal: back to the jungle. So the same vegetation as any jungle, but then very, very cold. Posted 6 years ago
  2. Nice shots! I'm always afraid of my photo gear when I shoot in the rain! Posted 6 years ago
    1. Thanks! In this case I mostly kept it under my poncho, and only take it out when needing to take a shot. Posted 6 years ago
