
Scarlet-bellied mountain tanager - perched II, La Cocha, Colombia
Easy to recognize as it is the only red Mountain Tanager. This bird occurs between 2,200m and 3,400m, here found at about 3,200m. It is locally common in open areas of the Páramo. It was very misty so the shots are a little vague, sorry.

The scarlet-bellied mountain tanager is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest.
