Hypoprepia fucosa Hypoprepia fucosa (Painted Lichen Moth, Firefly Moth). Larvae of this species feed on lichens, algae, and moss growing on trees. The color patterns on this moth are similar to those on some species of firefly beetles and are probably a warning sign that they are inedible as well as a case of mimicry. But if both the firefly and the moth are inedible then who is imitating who?<br />
