Astrid Lake in the early morning.
Astrid Lake is a very clear lake about 57 acres in size with non-mineralized (soft) water. Surrounding forests are primarily a mixture of pines, spruce, fir, and aspen but pin oak and red maple are also common in places. The substrate is sand and gravel derived from regional gneiss bedrock. The lake is accessible by a footpath which continues past it into the pine forests on the other side.
