Suillus grevillei (Suillus clintonianus)
Suillus grevillei (Larch Bolete) showing pore surface.Ectomycorrhizal with tamarack.
This is another North American Suillus that was once considered to be the same species as the European one. DNA analysis has shown that the North American species is distinct and is properly called Suillus clintonianus. https://genome.jgi.doe.gov/Suicli1/Suicli1.home.html

''Suillus grevillei'' is a mycorrhizal mushroom with a tight, brilliantly coloured cap, shiny and wet looking with its mucous slime layer. The hymenium easily separates from the flesh of the cap, with a central stalk that is quite slender. The species has a ring or a tight-fitting annular zone.
