Suillus cavipes (Suillis ampliporus)

Suillus cavipes (Hollow Bolete) showing scabrous stalk. Although called Suillus cavipes in most manuals the North American mushrooms are not the same species as the European. DNA analysis shows them to be distinct species. The accepted name for the North American species is Suillis ampliporus.
