Suillus cavipes (Suillis ampliporus)
Suillus cavipes (Hollow Stalked Larch Bolete) showing the top of the brown cap and the dense hairs that cover it. Found growing under tamarack in a mixed black spruce and tamarack conifer swamp. Although called Suillus cavipes in most manuals the North American mushrooms are not the same species as the European. DNA analysis shows them to be distinct species. The accepted name for the North American species is Suillis ampliporus.
