Ptilostomis ocellifera
Ptilostomis ocellifera (Giant Rusty Sedge). These were among the more frequent large caddisfly visitors to my porch light last summer. Adults, according to one study, can be attracted to a fermenting mixture of molasses and water. https://www.shsu.edu/jrw034/documents/WozniakandMason2010.pdf
Larval cases are tubular and made from pieces of grass or sedge blades. The larvae are detrital shredders (they eat the remains of plants) but will switch to animal sources including their own conspecifics when nutrient stressed. https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a218726.pdf

''Ptilostomis ocellifera'' is a species of giant casemaker in the family Phryganeidae. It is found in North America.
