  2. Ohhhh, didn't know you do "mothing" too, Gary! We're in small numbers, but a few of us are quite excited about it, you may have already noticed :) Posted 6 years ago
    1. I got started in 2017 when there was a "lull" in employment (things have gotten much better again since then). Just a simple porch light right now but this coming season I'm upgrading to a UV light and baits. My total moth count for 2017 and 2018 is about 459 species. And looking at my spreadsheet for 2018 the number identified as of 02/20/19 has grown to 292. Some are probably wrong but so far the ones I've posted at Bug Guide and BAMONA (135 species) have been correct. Posted 6 years ago
      1. Ohh that sounds like music to my ears, hope you're willing to share those already impressive archives here!

Some history of mothing here, all very recent: Lisa and Christine organized a community mothing initiative last summer. It was small scale but successful and a lot of fun. As you probably already have noticed, both Lisa and Christine are quite active in this area.

I personally live in an area with very poor biodiversity so not a very regular moth-er, but last trip to Colombia we tried it in the jungle. Here's the first 2 nights, with still 3 nights more to share:

And finally, I know both Lisa and Christine are tuning their gear for the coming season. So it looks like there's a few of us enthusiasts that only got started recently.

Anyway, know that they are VERY welcome here :)
