  1. Nice one, Ernst! Not sure if I shared this with you before, but I once read that in Australia, there's never been a true fungi survey to "officially" document species found there. Does that ring true? Posted 6 years ago
    1. Ferdy, i can’t recall that but I think you are correct. All I know that they talk about 250000 species might exist in Australia but only 5% have been looked at . Posted 6 years ago

''Laetiporus portentosus'' is a species of polypore fungus in the family Fomitopsidaceae. It is found in South America, Australia, and New Zealand. It has been used traditionally as a tinder and to carry fire by Australian Aboriginals, and by New Zealand Māori people. The Māori have also used it as a "wound protector, to soften and ease a difficult labor."
