Orange Day lily “No, ma, that’s not a Tiger Lily” is what i say whenever we come across these beauties! The Orange day-lily is commonly mistaken for Lilium lancifolium aka the “Tiger Lily” but they are not even in the same family! The orange day-lily is not a true lily, but gets its name from its close resemblance to lilies and because it only blooms during the day. "Hemerocallis fulva", the orange day-lily, is a species of daylily native to Asia. It is very widely grown as an ornamental plant in temperate climates for its showy flowers and ease of cultivation. It is not a true lily in the genus "Lilium", but gets its name from the similarity of the flowers and from the fact that each flower lasts only one day.
