Sobralia Orchid, Putumayo, Colombia Remote tele shot of this relatively large orchid found at about 1,900m asl. Flowers in this genus only bloom for a single day, according to dutch Wikipedia. I'm working with an expert to try and get an exact species ID. This was a very misty shot so had to post process it quite heavily.     1. Thanks, glad you like it, as it's certainly not how to the original shot looked :) For light subjects, this is a trick that often works well for me: underexpose during post processing (RAW only), then up the whites. Note that whites is not the same as highlights. Other than a somewhat dramatic look, it gives the *illusion" of focus and sharpness, as I can ensure you this shot doesn't have any originally.
