Cloud Forest, Putumayo, Colombia Before 2017 (our 2nd visit to Colombia) we had no idea what a cloud forest is. In 2018 (our 3rd visit) we covered quite a few of them. On this day we were coursing on the "Trampoline of Death", a steep mountain road between Mocoa and La Cocha. This scene captures a pretty typical scenario of being right in the middle of a cloud, from one minute to the other. Conditions change very rapidly. It's an amazing sight, but can be frustrating as well for photography. Ah well.

The real attraction of cloud forests, of course, is the life within it, which is extremely rich and diverse due to the ideal moist conditions.
For you zoomers out there: there's a flower species in this scene from a few observations ago. And at the top you can see part of the infamous road :) Colombia,Colombia 2018,Colombia South,Fall,Geotagged,Mocoa,Putumayo,South America,World Click/tap to enlarge Promoted

 1. Very strange coincidence, but it looks like my mystery slime mold (the previous picture) could fill in that hole in the clouds! :D Posted 6 years ago
