Wing-barred piprites, Putumayo, Colombia
A relatively dull bird that is uncommon to see, hard to spot. This one was found at about 1,800m altitude. Should you be wondering, it's song is (and please repeat after me): pi-pi-pi-pi-pidi-pi-pi-pi. These tones are accelerated as they are repeated. I wanted you to know that.

The wing-barred piprites is a species of bird which traditionally has placed in the family Pipridae, although it remains unclear if this is correct. It is therefore considered ''incertae sedis'' by recent authorities such as SACC.
