Puff! I usually prefer to take pictures of the flowers and not disturb them... however, this time a friend helped me demonstrate the Spartium's pollination mechanism: when a bee lands on the flower - its lower part opens and releases a cloud of pollen, all over the bee. with this pollen, it will pollinate the next flower it lands on. "Spartium junceum" is a species of flowering plant in the family Fabaceae. It is the sole species in the genus "Spartium", but is closely related to the other brooms in the genera "Cytisus" and "Genista". There are many binomials in "Spartium" that are of dubious validity.
