A Winter GBH! While taking photos of a Great Blue Heron (GBH) from our deck I turned around to walk back into the house and saw this fellow. He seemed completely at ease as I walked closer and closer till I actually couldn’t get any closer because of the deck railing. The great blue heron is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands.
