I don't have any real expertise to offer but I did notice that for Helvellosebacina concrescens, most images show it like your shot: the fungus directly attached to a plant's stem or even enclosing it. For Sebacina incrustans, it doesn't seem so attached to plants in that way. Posted 6 years ago

Helvellosebacina concrescens is a mycorrhizal fungus, forming a range of associations with trees, orchids, and other plants. Basidiocarps (fruit bodies) are produced on soil and litter, sometimes partly encrusting stems of living plants.
