Horrid Thistle (Cirsium horridulum) NATIVE. This is definitely one of my favorite native flowers, and I don&#039;t think it gets nearly enough attention. Its defensive spikes can be quite painful if touched, but this plant is a pollinator favorite! Not only is it a host plant to The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) and The Little Metalmark (Calephelis virginiensis), but it attracts many other pollinators!<br />

  1. Wow, it's such a beautiful plant! I've never seen this in person. Posted 6 years ago
    1. I should have sent you some seeds! I have tons of them in my yard every year, so I've collected many seed heads!

Would you be interested in some? Bumblebees and wasps love them!

      1. Ohh! Sure, thanks! Do you regularly collect seeds? I can send you some of those little brown envelopes that I sent your seeds in, if you would use them? Posted 6 years ago
