Allobates femoralis tadpoles, La Isla Escondida, Colombia

On this day, we exited the La Isla Escondida reserve after 5 full days there. We followed the same path that took us in, in opposite direction, 7km through the jungle. On our way out, our guide Manuel found this wonderful poison frog with tadpoles on the back. And that makes it the final observation from La Isla Escondida.

An unforgettable location for so many reasons. We had a primary rainforest all to ourselves for 5 days, aided by two extraordinary guides. We combined our wide interest in nature with hard work, by taking virtually every possible opportunity to explore and document what this forest has to offer. And it has rewarded us greatly:

This set is as large as our typical set is for a total trip. But in this case it was only 5 days. It took me months just to share this single location. We managed to capture a stunning amount of diverse creatures:

- A few epic canopy-only birds
- Stunning insects all over
- Our first mothing attempt in the jungle
- A paradise for herping
- fun with fungi and creative lighting
- Incredible night tours

I could go on, but I'll let the set speak for itself. In 12 years of wildlife travel, nothing has come close to our experience here. I don't think we will ever match or top our productivity here, or the diversity found. But you can count on us to try anyway :)
