Lactarius subpurpureus One of my favorites!

The cap had zones of pink with splotches of green. Nearly distant, pinkish gills. The stem was colored like the cap.

Habitat: Growing on the ground in a mixed forest.
1. Why is it your favorite? Posted 6 years ago
    1. It's one of my favorites because I kind of feel like it's often so "ugly" that it's actually beautiful...Not sure if that makes sense. The cap is often really mottled, wet, greenish/brownish/pinkish - a weird combination. Plus, the gills leak latex very dramatically, which I think is cool. Posted 6 years ago
      1. Ah yes, you do tend to like ugly things, or so I noted from a few past examples. Or perhaps more positively phrased: messy, unstructured appearances :) Posted 6 years ago
        1. Haha! Yes, I do :) Posted 6 years ago
