Fairyfly - Mymar taprobanicum (Family Mymaridae) The tiny insect seen on this frog&#039;s head is a fairyfly. It was less than 1 mm long!  This family includes the world&#039;s smallest known insects.  They are insect egg parasitoids. I&#039;m not sure why it was on the frog, but it didn&#039;t stay long.<br />

I almost missed it - my kids and I were out searching for amphibians after the rain; these frogs are so mellow that we got super close to it, which was when I spotted the little fairy wasp!           1. Wow, nice! I had never seen that. From the video: 0.25mm. That's absurdly small, I think it would require at least a 2:1 macro setup. Posted 6 years ago
