Orange Oyster - Phyllotopsis nidulans Past their prime, but still vibrant!<br /> <br /> Caps were mostly fan-shaped, pale orange, very fuzzy, and had inrolled margins. The gills were close, orange, and had frequent short gills. It didn&#039;t have a stem, but did have a poorly defined base. Odor: similar to rotting garbage. ''Phyllotopsis nidulans'', commonly known as the mock oyster or the orange oyster, is a species of fungus in the family Tricholomataceae, and the type species of the genus ''Phyllotopsis''. It is widely dispersed in temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere, where it grows on decaying wood.
