A Rough Stink Bug, Brochymena affinus This stink bug was hitchhiking on a piece of firewood that I was bringing in from the wood shed. The rough “shoulders” distinguish it from the introduced and invasive Brown Marmorated Stink Bug which has smooth shoulders.
I believe morphene also has a post of this insect,
Rough Stink Bug and his wee passenger (check out the antenna) Genus Brochymena, but there are 3 or 4 very similar species, so I've got a request in at BugGuide for an exact ID - and 2 years later they came through :)
