Goliath Palm Cockatoo
The Goliath Palm Cockatoo is native to Western Papua and the Aru Islands. They are endangered and listed as CitesII. They are the largest of all cockatoos and the size of their beak is second only to the Hyacinth Macaw. They are very sought after as pets throughout the world and are currently the most expensive bird to buy as there are very few breeders. This particular bird lives in a private sanctuary in South Africa.
The Palm Cockatoo ", also known as the Goliath Cockatoo, is a large smoky-grey or black parrot of the cockatoo family. It is the only member of the subfamily Microglossinae and the only member of the monotypic genus, " Probosciger". Its unique position within the cockatoo family has been confirmed by molecular studies.
