Common Duckweed - Lemna minor This pond was completely covered in duckweed. Common duckweed is a free-floating aquatic plant that forms a floating mat on the water surface. It can be used for phytoremediation because it is an efficient bio-accumulator, is fast-growing, and is easily removed from the water after use. This pond seemed excessively covered in duckweed though and I'm not sure if it was being used as a bioremediator or if it was just growing wild. The surface of the water was nearly completely covered, letting very little light under the water.
