Picture-winged Fly - Idana marginata

Sorry for the hideous quality of this shot, but I'm posting for the sake of documentation.

This fly was about 10 mm long, and is the largest species of ulidiid in eastern North America.

Habitat: Urbanized walking trail

      Exactly! We call this a "reg shot": you registered the species in a clear enough way to show and identify it and as you know, this in itself already is very valuable on JD. Surely you or somebody else may come across it again for a better shot. Posted 6 years ago
